This special limited edition illy Art Collection was designed by renown Spanish film director Pedro Almodóvar to coincide with the release of his latest film, Broken Embraces (Los abrazos rotos), a Sony Pictures Classic release this November. The single signed and numbered espresso cup features a colorful, Warhol-esque photogram of Penélope Cruz, the lead actress of the film and an iconic presence in Almodóvar’s work.

The Broken Embraces single cup complements a six cup illy Art Collection by Almodóvar that is now available, immortalizing his career through the portrayal of emblematic scenes from six of his most celebrated movies.

The Designer

Internationally acclaimed actor, script-writer and director Pedro Almodóvar was born in 1949 in Calzada de Calatrava in the La Mancha region of Spain and is best known for his films portraying the tumultuous transformation of post-Franco Spain. His entire body of artistic work can be viewed as an extraordinary allegory of the contemporary world, portrayed through women and love, desire, passion, family and individuality as metaphors for life. His films are widely distributed and much-admired by audiences the world over.
