Jannis Kounellis' stunning black and white one-of-a-kind espresso cup was a 2002 addition to the illy artist Cup Collection series with a limited edition of 3,000. Each signed and numbered white porcelain cup and saucer is partially immersed in shiny black paint. Because each piece is hand-dipped in the paint with a slightly different motion, no two cups are alike and each is truly a unique work of art.

Jannis Kounellis is a founding member of the Italian Arte Povera movement whose works challenge the conventional interpretation of art and often contain a political or social dimension. Born in Greece, Kounellis currently makes his home in Rome.
